Crypto Talent Wire #8 - Crypto Hiring Newsletter
Edition 8 (2026-04-07) of The Crypto Talent Wire: Your bi-weekly update on blockchain jobs and what's happening in crypto hiring. Bi-weekly insights on crypto and blockchain hiring from TechChain Talent.
We're seeing some patterns emerge that are worth discussing. After conversations with dozens of companies over the past two weeks, here's what's actually happening in crypto hiring right now.
🎯 The Counter-Offer Problem
You make an offer. The candidate is excited. Then they give notice at their current company... and suddenly get a massive counter-offer. 30-40% raises, equity refreshes, promotion to the role they wanted. And they stay.
The offer acceptance isn't the finish line anymore. Stay engaged. Keep selling the vision. Don't go dark for two weeks assuming they'll show up.
🔄 The Referral Paradox
Referrals are the highest quality hires. But companies that hire primarily through referrals end up with homogeneous teams. Everyone thinks the same way, has the same blindspots.
For every two referral hires, force yourself to hire one person from outside your network. The discomfort is the point.
⚡ The Urgency Theater Problem
Companies tell candidates the role is critical and urgent. Then take a week to schedule the first call.
Don't claim urgency unless you can actually move fast. If you say it's urgent, schedule the next interview before the current one ends.
💬 The Communication Gap
The space between interviews is part of the interview. Treat it that way.
🎓 The Junior Talent Opportunity
For two years, crypto companies only wanted people with 5+ years experience. Now there's a shortage of mid-level talent because nobody trained anyone during that period.
Eager to learn
Not jaded or burned out
Willing to work hard to prove themselves
Cheaper than senior people while you train them
"The best time to hire was six months ago. The second best time is now."
Companies wait for the "right time" to hire. Meanwhile, your competitors are hiring now. If you need someone, hire them now. Perfect timing is a myth.
