What hiring blockchain engineers actually involves
Blockchain engineering is a narrow talent market with a wide surface area. A Solidity engineer who has shipped audited lending protocols is not interchangeable with a Rust engineer building validator infrastructure, and neither is interchangeable with the engineer who can take a rollup from testnet to mainnet. Most failed crypto hires come from treating these as one role.
We map every search against the ecosystem the work lives in: EVM and Layer 2, Solana, Cosmos, Move-based chains, and the ZK stack. That mapping is what lets us produce a shortlist of engineers who have solved your specific problem before rather than a list of people whose CVs contain the right keywords.
Vetting is technical and cultural. Onchain and repository history tells us what someone has actually shipped. Conversations tell us whether they can operate in a small team, under public scrutiny, with token-denominated compensation and the volatility that comes with it. Both matter, and the second is where most hiring processes are weakest.
If the role is senior enough that a mis-hire would set the roadmap back, a retained search is usually the right structure. If you are hiring several engineers at once as you scale, an embedded model gives you the throughput without rebuilding your recruiting function.
