Our client builds and runs one of the most heavily used consumer crypto platforms in production today. Its systems are low latency and high throughput, and they run under constant load, where reliability and correctness are non-negotiable. The Team The Terminal team builds the real-time trading experience the platform’s most active users rely on.
Speed, accuracy and uptime all matter. Behind the product is a backend that takes in on-chain and market data, processes it in real time, and serves it to a very large number of concurrent users, including during the busiest moments in crypto markets. A trading-firm background isn’t required. What matters is how you build and scale distributed systems, not where you learned to do it.
What You’ll Bring Strong production experience building backend systems in TypeScript and Node.js Deep understanding of distributed systems: concurrency, partitioning, replication, consistency models, idempotency and failure modes Experience building and running real-time, high-throughput services under real load Hands-on experience with message queues and event streaming (e.g.
Kafka, Redis Streams, NATS) and event-driven architectures Strong grasp of databases and caching (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis), including schema design and query performance at scale A measure-first approach to performance, with real attention to tail latency, not just averages High agency: you take ambiguous problems and ship durable solutions Experience in high-growth environments where systems have to evolve quickly Nice to Have Experience with crypto, DeFi or blockchain systems, such as high-performance L1s, on-chain data indexing, RPC infrastructure or wallet-integrated apps Background in trading, exchange, payments or other latency-sensitive products Cloud infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code
