Forward Deployed Engineer
Location: Madrid
Salary: €60K - €80K
About the Company Our client is internet native infrastructure for debt capital markets, replacing traditional trust and agency providers with a software driven platform that verifies assets, enforces credit agreements and automates cash flows in real time. About the Role They are building a new Forward Deployed Engineering team.
Turning a signed debt facility into a running production deal is now the constraint on how fast the business can take on new work. Today that onboarding is done by platform engineers between other commitments, so every new facility slows platform work down and vice versa. This role owns the path from signed facility to a deal running in production, per deal, end to end.
Operations reads the credit agreement and writes the functional definition. You turn it into working software: design it, build it, prove it, ship it into the production codebase, then stay with it until it runs without you. Six months after go live the measure is simple, the deal generates no engineering tickets. You will own client meetings on your deals with an advisory posture, telling clients how it should work on the platform and saying no with a reason when what they ask for will not hold.
This is the company's highest priority hiring push: a parallel team alongside the existing product engineering team. Requirements Five or more years of software engineering experience, with real programming depth, including the ability to explain and apply separation between business logic and I/O in a hexagonal architecture Production grade Python backend experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, PostgreSQL and AWS Ownership of delivery end to end: refining requirements, designing the solution, shipping it, proving it and handing it over Experience leading technical sessions with customer teams, and the ability to describe changing a client's mind, including saying no while maintaining the relationship Fluency with SQL, irregular spreadsheets, PDFs and reconciliations that do not initially balance Experience reading external API documentation, debugging third party payloads and building file pipelines for clients who cannot change their exports Practical judgment about where coding agents produce incorrect results, rather than enthusiasm for AI tools alone English strong enough to serve as the technical voice with clients, in both asynchronous communication and live meetings Key Responsibilities Own each deal's onboarding pipeline end to end, including database structures, deal schemas, declaration services, metrics, covenants, dashboards, automated reports, and, where the company controls cash, on chain transaction builders and waterfalls Turn each deal's functional definition into live calculation, verification and control across eligibility rules, borrowing base, covenants, cash controls and reporting calendars Interrogate functional specifications before building, identify unresolved questions, and return them to Operations rather than implementing assumptions Own client data intake, profile actual client submissions, build ingestion, and reconcile client declarations against stored data and expected payments Run working sessions with client operations and credit teams, technical sessions with client engineers, and follow ups that convert conversations into decisions Hand deals to Operations at go live with runbooks and invariant checks, so Operations can resolve day to day issues without engineering support Identify patterns that recur across deals and give Product Engineering context, without over generalising while a client is waiting Who This Is Not For Engineers who need a complete specification before they can start Solutions consultants who script around problems rather than shipping production code Candidates who see this as a stepping stone into platform work
